I had thought to write here about something cheerful, something positive, but to be honest I’ve been too pissed off to think of anything to write tonight except about the subject matter that is pissing me off.
Maine voted down Same Sex Marriage. There is speculation in the media that the Latter Day Saints are behind some big advertising campaigns in the states where the issue is being put to public vote, and that they are funding the movement against Gay rights.
Ok I have to really bite my tongue on that… that a group that has been known to advocate Bigamy is against Gay marriage? hmm.
I am irritated at the media for all the hyped up coverage. Our own newschannel 8, KCCI.com here in Iowa is focusing a news special on ‘will it last?’ ‘ will it have a happy ending?’ They’re questioning the choice and the challenges Gay couples face, and their whole approach almost seems to ask ‘is it worth it?’ I know every single Gay couple I know would say a loud resounding YES.
Did the Black population think their equal rights were worth every bit of the fight? HELL YES!
This is just another case of discrimination against a group of people; opression of a group of people for being ‘different’.
Outlawing or voting against Gay marriage is NOT going to stop us from being together. We will continue to be Gay and love who we love, and raise our families as we are now and before the laws, the rulings, the votes. We will continue to LOVE who we love and no vote is ever going to change that.
The religious bible thumpers want to save our souls. Who asked them to? Our souls aren’t their concern. My soul is only between me and God, and I guarantee I got a better chance at getting there than some of these so called Cafeteria Christian bible thumper hypocrites.
What do they care? Our love, our lives are no one else’s business. One woman on KCCI’s site says ‘marriage is public’. How so?! WHO invited YOU to their Gay wedding? Believe me we don’t want anyone there that isn’t SUPPORTIVE of it.
So how is that PUBLIC!?
I am so angry at the discrimination.
Do you think any straight couple would put up with being seperated from their loved one during a medical crisis, a life or death situation? Do you think they’d tolerate their step children being taken and put to foster care because they weren’t a ‘normal heterosexual’ person? Do you think that they’d allow this kind of treatment to any one who was discriminated because of RACE? HELL NO. They’d scream bloody murder.
This is the 21st century. Time to roll with the changes. ALL people of ANY color, race, religious culture, gender, or sexual orientation DESERVE the same EQUAL RIGHTS of ALL.
I’m sick of the HATE. The only thing I HATE is BEING DISCRIMINATED against and Judged by hypocrites. Leave my judgement up to God. Let me live my life as you live yours and with the full rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. There is nothing in the constitution that says, “We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, unless they are homosexual.”
No it simply says: “”We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
There is no exclusion and to add any such exclusions is to desecrate the Constitution itself and the foundations of our very country which claims to protect the freedoms of ALL people, not just ‘some’ or not just the ‘Republicans’ or the ‘Democrats’ or the Religious or the whatever. It is ALL inclusive. So LET US HAVE OUR RIGHTS!
